Clean
The Rana region offers 100 % renewable energy – supplying electricity from hydropower and wind energy to industries, businesses and households in the region.
In addition, our local industry is working hard to recycle energy used in industrial processes. At Mo Industrial Park, 400 GWh of energy, the equivalent of 24,000 households, is recycled every year.
New businesses in Rana will benefit from local know-how and infrastructure aimed at developing and supporting sustainable industries. When it comes to energy efficiency and environmental standards, our region does not settle with “good enough”.
Abundant
The region’s power surplus makes it a favourable place for new, climate-friendly industries. As a whole, North Norway has an energy surplus of around 7 TWh each year. The Rana and Helgeland region alone, have around 1 TWh of energy surplus. The proximity to local hydropower producers offers environmental and competitive advantages compared to industries running on fossil fuels or long-haul energy.
Affordable
Situated in the electricity price area NO4, the Rana region has very competitive prices. According to the Long Term Power Market Analysis 2020-2040 from the Norwegian water resources and energy directorate (NVE), the electricity price in NO4 will be the lowest in the Nordic region in the foreseeable future.
