Venture North, Invest in Rana Region Norway assists foreign businesses, investors, and professionals in identifying and realising business opportunities in the region.

The northern Norway venue, with abundant land and hydropower resources, is ideal for large-scale and energy intensive businesses. With a long and diverse industrial history within the process, mining, technology and marine industries, our ambitious region welcomes national and international businesses.

Venture North business services include:

Municipalities

Hemnes Municipality

The business sector in Hemnes includes active agriculture, several contractors, boat production and furniture manufacturing, as well as a vibrant cultural life. The Røssåga power plants make Hemnes Norway’s sixth largest hydropower municipality (3285 GWh).

Did you know that Oldervika Business Park in Hemnesberget is one of the 15 hubs in Sirkulære Nordland, where old aquaculture plastic will be turned into new products for the aquaculture industry?

Rana Municipality

The business sector in Rana is particularly tied to the metal industry. In addition, power production, construction, food processing, and agriculture are important employers. The municipality also has a research and development (R&D) environment.

Did you know that Gro Harlem Brundtland presented the “Rana Package” in 1989? It involved major financial transfers to the Rana community, along with a promise of 1,700 new jobs to replace those lost at the ironworks and coking plant.

Lurøy Municipality

The business sector in Lurøy is remarkably dynamic, especially within aquaculture. There are three aquaculture companies in the municipality, two of which have their headquarters and local ownership there.

Hattfjelldal Municipality

The business sector in Hattfjelldal is characterized by agriculture and forestry, followed by construction and contracting industries. The industrial sector also includes power and water supply.

Largest company: AS Arbor

Did you know that Arbor AS was founded in Oslo in 1956? The particleboard factory began production in 1957 in Hattfjelldal, in a former German aircraft hangar, employing around 40 people at the time.
